As the gateway to Ambleside in West Vancouver, this project was designed to take advantage of the park views with the incorporation of the sloped roof. It provides a mix of live/work and luxury condominium units in of close proximity to transit and local amenities such as the library and seniors centre. The live/work units provide for front entries onto the street allowing for an in home office. Two of the units are fully accessible incorporating such aging in place features as roll in showers, pull out work boards in the kitchens and provisions for adapting counter heights. Sustainable design features include the open breezeway allowing for penetration of light into the front and rear of units along with enhanced natural ventilation. This is a concrete building with stone exterior and was designed using LEED as a template for material choices and layout.
Karl's portfolio of projects includes work in multiple residential, commercial, custom residential and resort developments. Mr. Gustavson has traveled extensively throughout the world bringing to his projects a depth of experience that continues to add to the success of his designs.
The firm's principal, Karl W. Gustavson, established his own firm in 1985 to focus his experience on projects that required a sensitive approach to design while recognizing the realities of the site, localized community context and budgets.
